QCC fall golf outing at the Fox Creek at 10am on Wednesday, October 23, 2024
Dear IBM QCC Members & Spouses: 

We held our QCC spring golf outing on 5/6/24 at the Steel Canyon Golf Club.  We had a wonderful time playing golf and networking with our QCC members and friends.  Attached please see the pictures from our May golf outing: https://photos.app.goo.gl/79uX3KP2PHcgBvc86  


We have arranged a fall golf outing at Fox Creek Golf Course in Smyrna starting at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, October 23rd. The course has 6 par 4's, 1 par 5 and the balance par 3's.  Attached please find the course scorecard. 

The normal fee is $35 + tax per round.  Each QCC member and our guest(s) will pay $25 each and the QCC budget will take care of the balance.  

After we finish golfing we will meet at a local restaurant to have lunch and review the results and announce the winners.

Senior Scams & Retirement Financial Planning Presentations on Thursday (10:15am - 1:15pm), 10/31/24

Please join us for an informative event featuring two expert speakers who will speak on the following topics on Thursday, October 31:   

I.  Senior Scams by Miles Hurley from Hurley Elder Care Law: (Mr. Hurley's bio is attached).
Join us for an engaging and informative session on how to protect yourselves from common scams targeting older adults. In this session, you'll learn about scams targeting seniors, such as government impersonation scams, tech support scams, romance scams, and more. We'll explore the red flags to watch out for, and you'll receive practical tips on how to avoid becoming a victim.

Attorney Miles Hurley will guide you through real-life examples and share the latest strategies that scammers use so you can feel confident in recognizing and responding to suspicious situations. You'll also learn about resources available to help if you've been targeted, what interventions are available when you suspect a friend or family member has been the victim of elder financial abuse, and how to report suspicious activity. 

Whether you're tech-savvy or just starting to explore the digital world (online banking, social media, and more), this session will provide valuable knowledge to help you stay safe and secure.


II.  Retirement Financial Planning by Nancy Du from Ashwood Advisors: (Ms. Du's bio is attached).

Join us for an insightful session on crafting a retirement financial plan that aligns with your lifestyle goals. We’ll explore three critical pillars: retirement income planning, contingency planning, and legacy planning. 

This presentation will serve as a reminder to remove the noise and concentrate on the key aspects of your financial life in retirement. Nancy will introduce the key concepts and briefly touch on how to approach them, providing you with a solid foundation to build upon. You’ll learn how to create a retirement income plan that provides the peace of mind you deserve, along with strategies for safeguarding against unexpected health-related expenses and ensuring your assets are transferred according to your wishes.

  • About Our IBM Atlanta QCC Club

    Our club was formed many years ago to promote social and community activities for current and former IBM employees with 25 years of service or more. Our club receives no funding from or sponsorship by IBM. We do thank IBM for allowing us to use their auditorium for our annual meetings.

    Our purpose is to enjoy one another's companionship while participating in our many social and volunteer activities.

    We recruit new members from the recently inducted QCC list provided by IBM Atlanta. However, we rely heavily on our membership to encourage eligible IBMers to join our Club. We also count on all members to contribute their ideas, suggestions, and their time for volunteer activities.

    Membership is voluntary and while you must qualify as an IBM Quarter Century employee, membership in the Atlanta QCC is not an automatic extension of IBM's 25 year qualification. You must join our chapter and pay the annual dues which are currently $10.00 per year.
